Children’s and Young Adult Librarian
Brookline Public Library
Brookline, New Hampshire

Duties:
The Brookline Public Library has an opening for a Children’s Librarian. This position reports to the Director.
The children’s library includes Young Adult and Parenting.

Responsibilities include:
• collections development
• reader’s advisory
• programming
• providing guidance and support in using the collection, internet access, databases, and other library facilities to patrons of all ages
• supervising staff and volunteers

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree required (MLS preferred)
• experience in children’s/YA at a public or school library
• ability to recommend books which develop and encourage a passion for reading in young patrons
• experience in collections development in children’s materials
• strong interpersonal skills with the ability to relate to both young patrons and adults
• ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, in particular the ability to partner with others to develop a unified approach to the children’s library
• strong computer skills (including ILS, Microsoft Office and some web experience)
• current knowledge of library principles, procedures and technology
• reads widely in current children’s and young adult literature
• strong organizational skills

Salary: $13-$16/hour depending on education and experience
