Cataloging Librarian
Franklin Pierce Law Center Library, an academic law library, is currently seeking applicants for its position of Cataloging Librarian.
Responsibilities:
Reporting directly to the Library Director, the Cataloging Librarian is responsible for:
- catalog maintenance, including original and copy cataloging of law library materials in all formats-monographs
- serials
- electronic resources
- DVDs, etc.,
- applying national standards and using OCLC and Innovative Interfaces (III) Millennium.
As Collection Management Team Leader:
- works with others to establish and document standards, policies and procedures for effectively organizing and providing access to the law library’s holdings.
Required:
- MLS from ALA accredited institution, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Skill in using MARC tags to apply national cataloging standards and LC practice to original and copy cataloging in all formats.
- Knowledge of and ability to apply AACR2, LCSH, and LC Classification schedules.
Preferred:
- Experience in an academic research or law library.
- Experience cataloging legal materials.
- Experience working within an integrated library system environment, preferably III Millennium.
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- High degree of computer literacy.
