Cataloging Librarian

Franklin Pierce Law Center Library, an academic law library, is currently seeking applicants for its position of Cataloging Librarian.

Responsibilities:
Reporting directly to the Library Director, the Cataloging Librarian is responsible for:

  • catalog maintenance, including original and copy cataloging of law library materials in all formats-monographs
  • serials
  • electronic resources
  • DVDs, etc.,
  • applying national standards and using OCLC and Innovative Interfaces (III) Millennium.

As Collection Management Team Leader:

  • works with others to establish and document standards, policies and procedures for effectively organizing and providing access to the law library’s holdings.

Required:

  • MLS from ALA accredited institution, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Skill in using MARC tags to apply national cataloging standards and LC practice to original and copy cataloging in all formats.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply AACR2, LCSH, and LC Classification schedules.

Preferred:

  • Experience in an academic research or law library.
  • Experience cataloging legal materials.
  • Experience working within an integrated library system environment, preferably III Millennium.
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • High degree of computer literacy.
