Greetings students and recent graduates:
Are you an August 2007, January 2008 or pending May 2008 graduate and plan to participate in the May 2008 commencement exercises? If so, you may be interested in participating in the competition for the GSLIS 2008 commencement speaker. The graduate chosen for this honor will give a speech to graduates at the LIS commencement. If selected, you will have special seating for your family, and you will be seated on the dais with the faculty during the commencement ceremony. Your name will also be listed in the program.
Your written presentation should speak to your experiences in school, look forward to the world of work, and be no longer than five minutes maximum. The selected person will then be coached by our college speech coach, Dale Delitis.
The competition or tryouts will occur on Tuesday, February 19, 2008, beginning 1 pm to 3pm on the Boston campus. Time slots and location will be announced to the contestants. A panel of faculty and staff will judge the student speakers. If you are interested, please contact me, Em Claire Knowles, by email.
Best of luck,
Em Claire
