McArthur Library, in Biddeford, Maine, is seeking a Library Director.

QUALIFICATIONS: A Master’s degree in library science from an ALA-accredited program; a minimum of five years of progressively responsible library administrative experience including at least three years in a supervisory capacity. The successful candidate will be prepared to assume leadership for an increasingly busy library that serves the growing community of Biddeford. The applicant will value the library’s reputation for services and programs that exceed expectations, sometimes by unconventional means. Important traits will include creative problem-solving, flexibility, strong inter-personal skills, and the usual technological and management abilities.

POSITION: The Director develops, administers, supervises, and coordinates the work of the Library and staff, performs managerial duties related to personnel, budget, collection development, building maintenance, and library operations and services in conformity with the policies established by the Board of Trustees.

SALARY: Starting at $50,000, depending on experience and qualifications. Benefits include TIAA-CREF, 90% health insurance, vacation, and sick time. An Equal Opportunity employer.
