New England Library Association (NELA) has scholarships for both full time and part-time students. This year, the NELA is awarding four scholarships, two each for full time and part time students who are pursuing Master’s degrees in Library and Information Science. The awards are $2,000 for full time students and $1000 for part time students. Scholarships are open to New England residents who are attending an ALA accredited LIS program offered in New England or New York. Students should have demonstrated need for financial assistance and plan to continue their careers in New England. Eligible students should submit their completed applications to “Dean”, that is me, Assistant Dean Knowles, no later than March 15. I will review the applications and recommend the one full time and one part time to the Educational Assistance Committee of NELA.

Applications are now available from the GSLIS Administrative office in P-111, and in the scholarship book in the Student Information Center. On the GSLIS-West campus, Dean Terry Plum will have copies by Thursday of this week. You can also go to their website, http://www.nelibraries.org/resources/scholarships.html.

If you choose to apply, and complete the application packet, you will then return to me, Dean Knowles.

Good luck all!

Em Claire
