Overview:
Reporting to the Director of Library Services, the Library Assistant supports the informational needs of the NSMC community (including Union Hospital in Lynn and Salem Hospital in Salem) through document delivery, medical literature research , materials circulation and collection development/cataloging of print and electronic journals and books This position also supports managing the electronic subscription access, updating of the Library web page, patron online searching assistance, materials purchasing, and maintaining the current awareness service. This position will have cross campus coverage responsibilities, assigned days every week at both Salem and Union libraries. This position also requires covering for the Salem Hospital Library Assistant during any extended absences.
Education:
Bachelors level degree required.
Qualifications:
Requires good knowledge of PC Windows-based applications, such as Word, Excel, and Internet Explorer, confidence using web-based search engines such as Pubmed and OVID is highly desirable. Requires excellent organizational, people skills and a solid customer-focused attitude. Must be independent and self motivated.Requires moderate physical effort under typical library conditions
