YAS is a “pilot” school. I’m not exactly sure what that means but it was begun and is being run by social activists. We educate grades k-8 of inner city, under-unprivileged youth. They have one library with a meager amount of books and no librarian. The books are organized but some of the books have old call letters on them or none at all. The shelves have various labels of grade and sometimes genre. There are also a two to three boxes of books that are just kind of sitting there. They have been fund raising for a part time librarian but have thus far been unsuccessful. It will be a good project for someone who has a big heart and some patience.
