Information Architect and Research Tools Developer
The EdLab at the Gottesman Libraries of Teachers College, Columbia University seeks an innovative professional to provide leadership to create and enhance our portfolio of web-based research tools.
Duties & Responsibilities: Working with minimal supervision, and skilled in communicating with colleagues who may have varying degrees of subject knowledge, the Information Architect will collaborate with members of the EdLab to develop online research tools and services. Apply principles of information architecture and usability to develop effective site interfaces and navigation structures. Develop strategies to incorporate the latest developments in online technologies to enhance the cyber-infrastructure for research. Reports to the Associate Director of the Gottesman Libraries for Development and Research.
Requirements: Knowledge of and/or experience in information architecture and user experience design. Strong service orientation. Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with faculty, staff and students. Ability to work independently and as a team member in a dynamic environment and on a variety of simultaneous projects.
Desired: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Science, or a related field. Interest in learning about new tools to support a variety of research methods and modalities as part of the growing cyber-infrastructure for research, and working knowledge of contemporary programming languages.
Salary: $55,000 and up, depending on qualifications and experience
Status and Benefits: This is a regular full-time professional appointment on the library staff. Excellent health and retirement benefits.
