Public Services Tenure-track Vacancies
Two Positions Available
Successful candidates for both positions will provide collection services and outreach to faculty in specific disciplines (to be determined) as a faculty selector-liaison as well as provide direct research and reference assistance with both print and electronic sources to the University community. The Public Services Librarians will report to the Head of Reference and participate fully in the instruction program and in the development and implementation of new public service programs and initiatives. One of these positions may be assigned additional collection development duties.
Required Qualification and Skills:
- Masters degree in Library/Information Science from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited program.
- Strong interest and/or experience in public services in an academic library.
- Ability to engage students of diverse backgrounds and skill levels in the classroom and in online settings, and to provide active outreach to faculty and their departments in assigned areas
- Excellent oral/written communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
- Demonstrated ability to contribute successfully in a rapidly changing environment
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, take initiative, and be flexible, dependable, and service-oriented
- Maintain awareness of professional developments, issues, and practices to help the Library stay in front of rapid change to improve organizational effectiveness
- Publishing record
- Record of involvement in professional activities
- Knowledge of and familiarity with information technology (e.g. Blackboard, social networking, Web 2.0 applications, etc.)
