Summary:
The Graduate School of Library and Information Science (GSLIS) at Simmons College seeks a part-time Technology Assistant for Blended Education to assist with the implementation of blended education initiatives. This position specifically supports the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Blended Learning Initiative, and more generally, provides instructional technology support and develops new capabilities within eLearning, the Learning Management System at Simmons. This position develops new capabilities and tools for blended and distance education applicable to GSLIS courses. In addition to supporting instructional technology, this position also develops web applications relating to teaching and learning, using web development applications such as php/MySQL. This position participates in the support of the GSLIS Technology Lab and participates on the GSLIS Technology Team. This position is 21 hours per week and is benefits eligible. Requirements:

  • Demonstrated familiarity with learning management systems;
  • Demonstrated familiarity with web applications development, using php/MySQL or other application environment;
  • Familiarity with XHTML markup and CSS;
  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills;
  • Excellent customer service skills;
  • Familiarity with online pedagogy;
  • Ability to work independently.
