Summer Intern - Library

Our Billerica, Massachusetts site has an opening for a Summer Intern to work in our R&D Library. The Summer Intern will be responsible for organizing the physical library and maintaining databases in our Billerica, Massachusetts facility. Responsibilities will include:

  • Provide library services to R&D employees. Perform specialized professional work involving library operations and library resource development and access. Responsible for assisting in operating the library by providing circulation and reference services. Develop and maintain library collections and assist researchers in use of print/electronic resources including online search services and networked information resources. Develop and implement procedures for the processing of materials
  • Participate in collection development responsibilities including assessment, weeding and selection of new print and online materials. Coordinate the cataloging and maintenance of material and the disposal of worthless materials.
  • Work with external consultants to update and maintain information or knowledge databases.
  • Work with supervisor to manage various types of subscriptions and publications.
  • Customer Service – troubleshooting databases.

The successful candidate will have the following education and experience:

  • Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Library Sciences
  • Experience with database management and PC applications.

In addition, candidates must have the following competencies:

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Excellent skills with database searching and Internet research.
  • Expertise with Windows Office products and database software programs.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of print and non-print reference and information resources.
  • Be able to manage multiple projects with varying deadlines.
