TITLE: BRA Archive Intern (2 positions available)
9:00am – 5:00pm Monday thru Friday
May – August 2008

SUMMARY OF INTERNSHIP:
At this time, the Boston Redevelopment Authority Archive seeks summer interns to work under the supervision of Boston Redevelopment Authority Archivist. Interns will work with the BRA Archive’s backlog record collection.

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Surveying record boxes
• Collecting metadata
• Creating accession records
• Applying record-retention schedules
• Produce accession records as the project product.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Applicants must hold a college degree and be currently enrolled in an ALA-certified MLS or equivalent graduate-degree program with a focus in archival management.
• Familiarity with current archival theory and practice.
• Computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Access programs.
• Must be comfortable working with paper records including those that may be deteriorating, dusty, or in poor condition.
• Insensitivity to air-born allergies.
• Ability to lift 40-pound record cartons.
• Ability to climb ladders, stand, and bend to reach record materials. Transportation:

The facility includes a gated parking lot as well as access via MBTA Bus Route #36.
