Job Title:
Technical Services Librarian

Job Description:
Oversee technical services department with 2 F/T paraprofessionals and work study students. Responsible for original and copy cataloging, authority control, and collection maintenance. Strong verbal and written communication skills, and attention to detail important.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership and support to 2 paraprofessional copy catalogers and work study students
  • Performs the original cataloging of the Bank Street theses and portfolios, Bank Street produced materials not on OCLC, and all other materials not found on OCLC
  • Performs complex copy cataloging of electronic resources, textbooks, and other materials
  • Maintains the integrity of the online catalog
  • Provides library instruction in the form of orientations to graduate student patrons
  • Cover the reference desk for approximately 8 hours a week and as needed

Qualifications:

  • Masters in Library Science from an ALA accredited institution
  • Knowledge of AACR2 and MARC format
  • Knowledge of OCLC cataloging
  • Familiarity with the Dewey Decimal system and SirsiDynix Horizon ILS preferred
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Highly organized and detail oriented

Salary commensurate with experience. Position begins July 2008.
