Part time Library Assistant

Our client, a “consulting firm specializing in business strategy, principal investing, e-strategy, start-ups and merger integration” is looking for a part-time library assistant.
20-24 hours/week (spread across 3-5 days); June -December 2008 with possibility of longer term.
Job Responsibilities:
- Catalog and maintain small business collection of print resources
- Sort & deliver mail consisting of journals and newsletters
- Maintain small journal collection, as well as a small file of special issues of journals
- Searching for documents on the web as requested by consultants
- Assist other librarians in the creation and electronic distribution of several news alerts newsletters about our clients, competitors, and industry news
- Some reference assistance for consultants, like basic searches in our subscription databases
- Help cover absences of other librarians
Skills necessary:
- Comfortable using MS Word, Excel (very basic), PowerPoint (very basic), Office
- Good organizational skills and ability to juggle a few ongoing projects going on at the same time
- Internet search skills on primary search engines like Google, Yahoo, and others
- Some reference experience is a plus, especially business reference
- Experience using online subscription databases like Factiva, LexisNexis, Ebsco, Thomson Research, and others is a plus
Other:
No benefits like paid sick leave or vacation time, health insurance, etc.; however, full participation in department events and outings through the year is encouraged.
