Job Title: Systems Librarian, Colby-Sawyer College, New London NH

Job Summary: Colby-Sawyer College Library is pleased to offer this opportunity to a new MLS graduate to work with a small team of dedicated professionals as a Systems Librarian. The position provides oversight of the integrated library system (currently Dynix Horizon), technical support for the library’s electronic resources, including database maintenance and report generation, some website development, and some reference and undergraduate information literacy instruction. The library, located in two beautifully restored 19th century barns, is poised to move into a new ILS (perhaps open source), to work with Web 2.0, to digitize and publish Archives materials, and is looking forward to planning an Information Commons. For the right individual, with drive and vision, this could be an exciting opportunity!
Minimum Requirements: An ALA accredited MLS or MLIS degree. Knowledge of current and emerging library technology, including coursework related to integrated library systems. Excellent planning and project management skills; strong organizational, analytical, and troubleshooting skills; good oral and written communication skills. Ability to work individually and as part of a team. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 2007.
Preferred Requirements: Familiarity with open source. General reporting skills, including Microsoft Access. Knowledge of SQL, XHTML, XML, CSS, and Java.
