Middle School Librarian

Thayer Academy, an independent, co-ed, 6-12 college preparatory school, is seeking a librarian for its Middle School Resource Center. The librarian is considered a Middle School Department Head for grades 6-8 and is a seventh grade advisor.

The librarian is considered a full-time faculty member. The librarian works closely with the Upper School Librarians in the selection of materials. The librarian should be able to collaborate with the faculty on assignments and take the initiative to share ways to support the curriculum. The librarian will teach a 6th grade unit on library and research skills.

Thayer Academy is an active member of the Cooperative Library Association of Greater Boston, which provides an extensive network of colleagues in the field. Qualifications: A successful candidate should have a Masters in Library Science and be familiar with library automation systems, cataloging, database searching, and library research skills. Experience with middle school students is preferred.
