More Awesome Info About Fall 08

Hi everyone,

People loved the email I sent yesterday so much (those of you who are new will find that happens regularly) that they’ve brought to my attention several more - wait for it - awesome additions. So without further ado:

WHAT DOES “BL” MEAN? EVEN BETTER, WHAT DOES “20BL” MEAN?

“BL” indicates that the class is a blended class. What does “20BL” mean? It means that it’s a blended class and it’s happening at the GSLIS West campus at Mount Holyoke College. Not helping? Check out http://tinyurl.com/6detaq for more information. For those of you who really, really want to take LIS 407 or LIS 415 in the Fall but have been closed out of Boston campus sections, this might work perfectly.

OK, JEN. YOU’VE SOLD ME ON THE BLENDED GSLIS WEST CLASS(ES), BUT HOW DO I GET THERE?

Funny you should ask. In the Fall 08 semester, there will be a free shuttle van running on Saturdays from the Boston campus to GSLIS West with the express purpose of getting you there in time for class meetings. If you’re taking LIS 407-20BL or LIS 415-20BL — or any other GSLIS West Saturday class, for that matter — this should help immensely. More info on the shuttle van is at: http://tinyurl.com/66rvry

NOTE: if you decide to sign up for both of the blended GSLIS West classes, you may run into a problem with AARC. (Sometimes the system sees it as a conflict.) If that’s the case, please contact gslisreg@simmons.edu and we’ll be happy to help you out.

I’D LOVE TO DO IT, BUT SATURDAYS JUST AREN’T WORKING OUT FOR ME. ANY OTHER OPTIONS? COULD YOU RUN THAT LIST OF NON-PREREQ CLASSES BY ME AGAIN?

Of course! Happy to do it. Here you go (with one addition that was inadvertently omitted yesterday):

LIS 421 - Social Informatics (Mondays, 6 - 9 p.m.; Peek)
LIS 450 - Organization and Management of Public Libraries (Wednesdays, 2:30 - 5:30 p.m.; Sullivan)
LIS 475 - Organizational/Information Ethics (Thursdays, 6 - 9 p.m.; Hussey)
LIS 493 - Intellectual Freedom (Mondays, 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.; Quilter)
LIS 531N - Archives for Librarians (Wednesdays, 1:30 - 4:30 p.m.; Webber)

Full course descriptions can be found at: http://my.simmons.edu/gslis/courses/descriptions/ms-electives.shtml

Have a lovely Tuesday, my friends. Stay cool!

Best,
Jen
