The Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners seeks a webmaster to manage the development of the MBLC Web Sites (mass.gov/mblc and mass.gov/libraries), provide support for agency’s local area network, and coordination of databases developed by selected MBLC units.

The Board of Library Commissioners office is a small state agency of approximately 30 employees. The Board has the statutory authority and responsibility to organize, develop, coordinate and improve library services throughout the Commonwealth. The Board also strives to provide every resident of the Commonwealth with full and equal access to library information resources regardless of geographic location, social or economic status, age, level of physical or intellectual ability, or cultural background.

Duties: Administer all aspects of the MBLC Web Site, develop dynamic web services, improve web site usability and accessibility, document processes, train staff in use of content management system, participate in procurements, assist in the administration of the MBLC local area network and PC maintenance, provide expertise, coordination and training on locally-developed MS Access databases.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or advanced degree from an accredited school.
  • Experience in web site design, development, services, and web administration
  • Experience managing Linux/Unix based “LAMP” web sites [Linux/ Apache/ MySQL/ Perl/ PHP].
  • Strong HTML skills
  • Familiarity with XML/XSLT, JavaScript, CSS
  • Demonstrated web/database integration skills
  • Strong Microsoft Access skills
  • Windows 2000/2003 LAN management skills.
  • Ability to train staff and coordinate projects.

Salary: $43,339.40 to $58,881.68 annually
