LIBRARY TECHNICAL ASSISTANT III – PERIODICALS
Full-time year round position available in Geisel Library
Typical hours are Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
This individual will provide library patrons with a variety of basic information regarding periodicals and audio/visual resources, to include instructing and assisting patrons in the use of computers, photocopiers, microfilm/fiche equipment and audio/visual equipment. He or she will also train and monitor support staff and student assistants. Other responsibilities include performing and supervising periodical check-in, claiming, bindery preparation and maintenance of library periodical, audio/visual, microforms and curriculum collections. This person will also maintain the library’s online journal collection and will supervise a variety of library projects as needed.
Bachelor’s degree plus two years relevant experience required, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills have been acquired. Experience and working knowledge in the area of periodicals and automated library information systems required. Strong reading, writing, math, and analytical/problem-solving skills are also required along with supervisory experience, general office skills and excellent communication skills. This person must have the ability to work well with a diverse population of library patrons. Online serials management experience preferred. The successful candidate will be able to assist the college in meeting it’s strategic plan for diversity and inclusiveness.
