Document Delivery Specialist –Temp-to-Hire position
Our client, a top-notch law firm, is looking for an independent, junior-level Librarian to be responsible for search and retrieval of all document and article requests submitted to Library Services.
DEPARTMENT: Library Services
REPORTS TO: Manager of Library Services
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Regular, consistent attendance is an essential function of the job.
- Process all document delivery requests and deliver to requestor by date specified. Search multiple Databases (PubMed, OCLC, internet); order documents from a variety of sources and handle a high volume of requests simultaneously.
- Supervise and assign daily work to the student co-op library assistants ensuring accuracy and Completeness of work.
- Respond to all document delivery email requests in a timely manner.
- Bill and submit daily time.
- Maintain cost effective contracts and accounts with vendors.
- Keep accurate records for invoice purposes of client/matter information.
- Keep current on library trends and methods beneficial to document delivery.
- Assist the library team on goals and objectives.
- Assist with interviewing, hiring and training of student co-op library assistants every six months.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Ability to change and adapt to current and future responsibilities and circumstances.
- Strong knowledge library systems as normally acquired through a Bachelor’s degree in library or information science or a closely related field, or the equivalent experience.
- 2-3 years library experience in the professional services industry beneficial. Approximately three to six months on the job experience necessary in order to gain an understanding of
library policies and procedures and effectively obtain information from library and outside sources without supervision.
- Ability to develop a list of resources is integral to this position.
- Ability to work well within a team-oriented environment and contribute to effective team relationships.
- Interpersonal and communication skills in order to communicate with a diverse group of attorneys and staff.
- Work regularly requires the ability to multi-task and prioritize. Work occasionally requires a high level of mental effort and strain when performing essential duties and multiple requests in a timely and efficient manner.
- Ability to utilize personal computer, facsimile, digital scanner, phone systems and applications necessary to the success of the operations.
- Work occasionally requires more than normally scheduled work hours to perform the essential duties of the position.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, and/or temperature.
- Fast-paced environment where some normal stress may occur.
