Chelsea High School: Library Media Specialist Opening

We are seeking highly qualified candidates with strong skills in communication, collaboration, library technology, cataloging, and collection development to work in an urban high school library.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certified Library Media Specialist (will consider student in GSLIS program)
  • Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education licensure preferred
  • Knowledge of YA literature and experience in collection development
  • Able to assist students using a variety of software programs on both Mac and PC platforms

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Overlap with one other full-time librarian and one full-time library paraprofessional to provide reference and readers’ advisory services to large, urban student population and staff
  • Supervise the library beyond the regular school day
  • Work cooperatively with teachers to plan and implement lessons and projects that make use of media center print and online resources.
  • Purchase and maintain AV equipment

SCHEDULE: 6:45AM-1:45PM

SALARY: Based on training and experience according to the current salary schedule as negotiated by the Chelsea Teacher’s Union.
