Copy Cataloger/Special Collections and Projects Specialist
Responsibilities: Catalog new monographs, serials, microform and audiovisual material. Catalog class recordings, conferences, symposia and speakers series. Send bibliographic records to vendor for authority control. Install latest OCLC Connexion release on staff pcs. Create and maintain course reserve records. Perform back up of the integrated library system. Book repair and preservation. Process unneeded donations with Better World Books. Continue digitizing and indexing the law school’s archives. Assist in special projects such as treatise weeding projects. Supervise part-time student shelfreaders.
The Copy Cataloger/Special Collections and Projects Specialist reports to the Technical Services Librarian and the Acquisitions, Preservation and Special Collections Librarian. 35 hour work week. Competitive salary. Excellent benefits.
Qualifications: Experience in cataloging, working knowledge of AACR2R, LC classification and LC subject headings, MARC and OCLC/Connexion. Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail; strong service orientation and ability to work well independently and with others. Proficiency in standard PC applications and ability to quickly learn new technologies. Experience with an automated integrated library system. Desired qualifications include familiarity with legal material and experience with Innovative Interface’s Millennium system.
Background: New England Law | Boston, located in Boston’s Theater District, is an independent law school established in 1908 as Portia Law School. The Law School offers day and evening classes and has an enrollment of approximately 1,000 students. New England Law | Boston is ABA accredited and a member of the Association of American Law Schools. The Law Library has approximately 355,000 volumes and 15 full time staff.
