Instructional and Emerging Technologies Librarian

Under the direct supervision of the College Librarian/Dean, is responsible for providing reference service, teaching course-integrated information literacy classes, and participating in campus wide and external activities dealing with technology related issues.

Qualifications: Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited library school. Minimum of two years library experience, preferably in an academic library. Demonstrated excellent technical, oral and written communication skills. Minimum of two years experience in supervising staff, preferably in an academic library. Demonstrated ability to work creatively and collaboratively with faculty, staff, students and colleagues. Proficiency in the use of Web 2.0 resources, such as blogs, wikis, podcast, etc. Experience with conducting training and library orientation for faculty, staff, students and others. Experience with teaching classes and instructing students on library resources including library materials, research methods and critical thinking skills. Has planned lessons, prepared and compiled user guides. Experience in developing library displays and creating other informational materials for display and publicity to enhance and extend library services. Experience with various content management systems, such as Contribute and Dreamweaver. Experience with Open Source initiatives, such as XML, and how they relate to the academic environment. Knowledge of new computer-based technologies and services, such as Second Life.
