JOB DESCRIPTION for POUND PROJECT Temporary Position

Collection Management Dept., Harvard Law School Library

Hours Per Week: 15

Duration: Funded through June 30, 2009.

Days and Hours: To be determined by the successful candidate.

Rate of Pay: $10.50/hour

Under the direction of the Pound Project Librarian, the Temporary Position for the Pound Project will assist a multi-year project to process approximately 100,000 volumes for the Harvard Depository. Tasks include gathering material from closed storage locations and preparing them for shipment to the Harvard Depository; creating item records and updating holdings as necessary; measuring fragile items for boxing; and performing related duties as required.

REQUIREMENTS

Ability to perform detailed, repetitive tasks accurately, and to work independently. Keyboarding competency (35 wpm) and basic computer skills required. Experience with Aleph ILS highly desirable. College degree and reading knowledge of French or German language(s) preferred.

Note: This position involves some moderately heavy lifting and requires pushing heavy book trucks in sometime narrow aisles.
