Internship Opportunities!
Straight Ahead Pictures has openings for two unpaid internships beginning June 2009. The work will involve data entry and copy editing historical documents and visuals, and providing general support to a major documentary film and web education project.
Requirements: a working knowledge in some combination of the following: Excel, Photoshop, FileMaker Pro, html. Students must be detail-oriented, conscientious, able to follow direction and work independently, and meet deadlines. Suitable for students interested in digital media production, 19th and 20th century U.S. History, historical preservation and interpretation, digital museum and library content development. A background in History, Sociology, Anthropology, Film or Media Studies or Computer Science would be helpful. Work on and off-site is involved. Ten hours per week. Conway is a 30-minute drive from Northampton.
Skills you will acquire: editing text for web publication, exposure to creating metadata for digital content, database development, management of digital documents & images, museum exhibit resources, developing collaborative team skills in digital humanities production.
Straight Ahead Pictures is a non-profit media production company with a mission to create innovative media projects and educational forums that use archival materials and oral history to foster community dialogue about contemporary social issues. Established in 2000, it is home to a searchable theme-based digital collection of documents and images related to disability history in the United States.
