Residency Librarian Residency Librarian Program 2009-2011 Albert S. Cook Library, Towson University, MD
Towson University seeks an early-career librarian for a two-year residency program to begin Fall 2009. The program is designed to provide a broad range of experiences in academic librarianship, a supportive environment for professional exploration, and an opportunity for concentrated experience in an area of specialization. The purpose of the program is to help increase the presence of underrepresented groups in academic librarianship. Towson University values diversity and encourages all qualified individuals to apply.
Required: MLS from an ALA-accredited institution, preferably granted between January 2008 and August 2009. Strong interest in developing a career in academic librarianship; demonstrated commitment to public service and user satisfaction; excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills; commitment to professional growth; and ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with colleagues and patrons from diverse backgrounds. Compensation: The Residency Librarian will be appointed for a two-year term with non-tenure track visiting faculty status. Salary is commensurate with that of an entry-level professional librarian. Full benefits package is provided with health insurance and retirement options. This position is contingent on the availability of funds at the time of hire.
