The Library, Information and Technology Services (LITS) Division at Mount Holyoke College is committed to providing integrated information and technology services and resources that enable students, faculty, and staff to creatively and productively advance the College’s academic, administrative, and co-curricular goals.
Reporting to the Director of Research and Instructional Support (RIS), the Instructional Technology Consultant for the Arts collaborates with a blended group of librarians and instructional technologists who together provide library research and instructional technology services and resources responsive to College teaching, learning, and research needs.
Responsibilities include actively partnering with faculty to promote and support the effective integration of library research and technology skills and tools in the academic program; serve as liaison to the Art and Art History Department, Architectural Studies, Dance, and Film Studies Departments. Provide instructional technology consultation at service points in the Art Department’s slide library, computer lab and LITS; provide leadership and support for the pedagogical use of moving images including videography, video editing, and animation; design, develop, and deliver effective learning opportunities for faculty and students; contribute to the collaborative process to develop and maintain the collection of information resources in all formats with specific responsibility for Art and Art History.
Qualifications/Skills include Masters degree in the visual arts or the history of the visual arts, preferred, but we welcome and will consider otherwise qualified candidates with credentials that support the requirements of the position such as a MLS, instructional technology, or instructional design degree. Experience integrating images from a variety of sources including ARTstor, commercial vendors, and individual and departmental collections in support of teaching and research; working knowledge of copyright issues; experience with digital image collection tools and repositories and presentation tools; experience with learning management systems in support of the arts; experience with video and animation tools such as Final Cut Pro, Flash, Maya, and Motion and their use for creative expression and teaching; ability to imagine effective ways to integrate faculty research using still and moving images into the curriculum; excellent oral and written communication, organization, and problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
