POSITION: Library Intern Kimball Union Academy Meriden, New Hampshire
Founded in 1813, Kimball Union Academy is a college preparatory boarding school with 345 students and 53 full-time faculty located on 1300 acres in west-central New Hampshire. The school is located two and a half hours from Boston, two hours from Burlington, Vermont, and 30 minutes from Hanover, NH. The mission of Kimball Union Academy is “to discover with each student the right path to academic mastery, to creativity, and to responsibility.” The Coffin Library at Kimball Union supports this mission and the school’s rigorous curriculum with a collection of over 20,000 volumes, a dozen online databases, numerous periodicals and non-print materials, and a growing instructional program. The library participates in the New Hampshire inter-library loan system and has a separate inter-library loan arrangement with Dartmouth College.
Summary of responsibilities:
This is a residential position in a dynamic and demanding boarding school environment. The library intern will assist the Librarians in circulation, reference, instruction, and cataloging/processing while also engaging in many aspects of boarding school life.
The internship is conceived to provide an enthusiastic, energetic candidate with the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of running a school library, including reference and instructional services, cataloging, and instruction and communications.
Qualifications:
- MLS or MLS in progress, with recent experience in reference, preferably in an academic or school library.
Salary or hourly wage:
- Salary commensurate with experience and specific responsibilities.
