GSLIS Gateway: Careers & Jobs

Careers and Jobs

Some GSLIS students enter the program already employed in a job they love, but the majority of students have come here to further their career or switch to a new one. This area of the website will help you find that perfect position, be it a pre-professional job while you're enrolled in the program, a fellowship or residency after you've graduated, or the next step on the LIS ladder. At the same time, this is where you'll find other resources for professional development. In this section you'll find:

  • Job Search: Lists resources for your job search, including links to general job search sites and specific employment listings.
  • Jobs and Opportunities:
    • CA$H: Simmons College campus jobs, including those in Beatley Library and all administrative offices, must be applied for through this website.. You must be a Simmons student to sign in.
    • Internships and Pre-professional Jobs (through Sharklink): Although hard copies of pre-professional job listings (and some internships) continue to be included in the binders outside of the Student Information Center outside the Matarazzo Student Lounge (on the Boston campus), they are now also posted through Sharklink. You must be a Simmons student to sign in.
    • Fellowships and Residencies: GSLIS sponsors several fellowships for incoming students; however, there are fellowships and residencies out in the LIS world for current and graduating students. This list of links brings you to some of those programs.
    • New England Jobline: The Jobline is mainly a listing for professional jobs in the various LIS fields for throughout New England. The majority of the listings require a Master's Degree. The Jobline is available to the public. (For listings of positions outside of New England, please see the Job Search page.)
