Curriculum Info
Starting with Fall 2005, GSLIS implemented some changes to the curriculum; the most notable was a change from a 4-credit system to a 3-credit system. All students who enroll at GSLIS beginning with the Fall 2005 semester are required to take all of their courses for 3 credits. Students who enrolled prior to Fall 2005 are taking their classes for 4 credits.
More information on this and other curriculum initiatives can be found on the main curriculum page. Status of courses undergoing review as part of the curriculum revision are listed on the course status page.
Petitioning to Waive a Class
If you believe you have sufficient academic background or other experience to waive a course requirement you may submit the course waiver form. However, before petitioning to waive any course requirements you should meet with your advisor to discuss the process and your qualifications.
Tutoring and Other Help
The Simmons Center for Academic Achievement provides writing tutoring as well as services for students with disabilities. For students who need help with a particular GSLIS course, current and former students may be available to provide one-on-one tutoring. For information, contact gsasst@simmons.edu or call (617) 521-2797.
There are also instructional guides for the GSLIS Collection, created by library staff. Some will help you improve your searching skills, and others are geared towards providing help with particular courses.
