Please return the petition to P111, by mail to GSLIS Admission, Simmons College GSLIS, 300 The Fenway, Boston, MA 02115 or by fax (617-521-3192). Incomplete petitions will be returned to the student. Petitions received after the deadline may result in a postponed graduate date. This petition will be effective only upon successful completion of the degree requirements.

Graduation Ceremony

The graduation ceremony is held in May for January and May graduates of the current year as well as August graduates from the previous year. Graduation and cap and gown information may be accessed approximately one month prior to the May ceremony at http://www.simmons.edu/commencement. If you change your mind about attending graduation, please contact the Registrar's Office immediately at 617-521-2111.

The Diploma

If you are a master's degree candidate, your diploma will read Master of Science, not Master of Library Science. Diplomas will be distributed at the May ceremony or may be picked up in the Registrar's Office two business days after Commencement. For January and August graduates, a postcard will be sent to you when diplomas are available. A photo ID is required. If you want your diploma mailed to you, please put this request in writing and send to the Registrar's Office, Simmons College, 300 The Fenway, Boston, MA 02115 and enclose a check for $10 made payable to Simmons College. Requests without this check will not be honored. The diploma will be sent via certified mail, which requires a signature upon receipt. A replacement diploma will be issued for a fee of $25.

The Transcript

A final official transcript will be provided upon request in writing to the Registrar's Office. Each transcript is $3.

Statement of Graduation

We will be happy to provide a letter stating that all degree requirements have been met and that you will be recommended to receive the degree on the appropriate date. This is often useful for reimbursement or employment purposes prior to the availability of the final transcript. Please email gslis@simmons.edu with your name, ID#, graduation date, and to whom the letter should be addressed.

Change of Address

If there is a change of your address, job or job title, we would like to know about it to keep you informed of happenings at GSLIS that might interest you. We also appreciate job information as we use it in profile in our placement statistics. Please email gslis@simmons.edu with this information.

Career Services
