Class today
I thought the photos that we viewed in class today, that were actually paintings were so amazing. How one can create something like that blows me away. I wish I could. Also, the photos that were actually made up of different, small things, like the one with the abstract pieces, were quite interesting as well. It's so weird how we can be so far away from something and see a representation of a person or whatever is being pictured, but yet when we are close up to the picture we see the individual colors, or pieces that make up this whole thing. Just a random side thought, but I thought those pictures/photos/paintings were different and quite amazing, I've never really seen anything like them before.

Rachel I agree, I thought the paintings that looked like they could be photographs were amazing. I am so jealous that I can't paint like that (or at all) so I guess I will just have to rely on my camera to recreate images that I see. But I would never have thought that the painting of the table with the salt and pepper and napkin holder was a painting! I would have definitely said that it was a photograph.

Rachel,
I agree as well!! What really inpressed me where the shadows created by the artist in the painting with the salt and pepper that Katie refered to. They look so real!! They were so exact and definite, just like the shadows captured in real photographs.

I definitely agree. I think that perception is so amazing. Everyone can have a different interpretation even when looking at the same picture. I think that it's amazing that you can see something close up and realize that it becomes something else as you move further and further away from the image. Our eyes can do marvelous things!
