New Library Reception Wed Sept 5, 2-3pm

Posted September 03, 2007

The entire Simmons community is invited to join us to celebrate the opening of the new Library!

On Wed Sept 5 from 2-3, come to the Library “living room” - the comfortable seating and new book/periodical display area directly across from the main entrance - for refreshments and short remarks led by Library Director Daphne Harrington.

All books and journals have come back from storage, and the media collection has been moved to the Ground Level of the Library. Compared to last Fall, the Library has:

*552 reader seats (increase of 280 seats over the interim)

*Shelving for 240K volumes (increase of 115K volumes)

*132 computer workstations (increase of 50)

*41 laptops for in-house checkout (increase of 20)

*14 student group study rooms (increase of 11)

If you can’t make it to the reception, stop by anytime during our Open House all day Tues Sept 4 and Wed Sept 5. There will be tours led by Library staff every half hour from 10-2, self guided ipod tours available anytime, flyers highlighting the features of the new Library, and healthy snacks at all the service desks.
