“Are you committed to your career, or is it just your little hobby? Most people don’t expect to get that kind of question in a business interview, but female executives and business owners hear it quite often, says business consultant Carol Frohlinger.” How would you handle such a situation? In this article, Frohlinger offers strategies women can use to combat workplace stereotypes.
By the way, Frohlinger recently co-authored a book on this topic with Simmons SOM Professor Deborah M. Kolb and Judith Williams. Her Place at the Table: A Woman’s Guide to Negotiating Five Key Challenges to Leadership Success is available in the Simmons Library (HD6054.3 .K65 2004).
