"Take This Job and ... Never Mind"

Dawn Rosenberg McKay, About.com, 7/2/06
http://careerplanning.about.com/od/workplacesurvival/
a/takethisjob.htm

This article gives important advice to recent college graduates on coping when their perceived “dream job” changes to one that is far from satisfying but which would not be practical to quit given the limited professional experience typical of recent college graduates. The author advises the dissatisfied job holder to examine objectively the precise likes and dislikes of the job in question and to try to find ways to remedy or at least minimize the sources of dissatisfaction and to build on those areas which are found to be more stimulating.

"Employer Survey Suggests Strong Job Market for New Graduates"

Sara Lipka, Chronicle of Higher Education, June 9, 2006, Vol. 52, Issue 40, pA33.

Seventy-two percent of companies will hire new college graduates by September, up eight percent from last year, according to a survey of employers by MonsterTrak, an online job-posting service for college students and recent graduates. But don’t look for pay to increase over 2005 levels. A MonsterTrak survey of students shows that, perhaps to offset this, nearly half of the grads were planning to move back home after throwing their caps in the air.

"Free Site America's Job Bank To Be Shown The Door In '07"

Ed Frauenheim, Workforce Management, May 22, 2006, Vol. 85 Issue 10, p3-4.

America’s JobBank, the U.S. Department of Labor national online job board that dates back more than a decade, will go out of business by 2007 due to high costs. An official notice spoke of competition from the likes of CareerBuilder, Monster, and Yahoo HotJobs, but Gerry Crispin, co-founder of job-site consulting firm CareerXroads, says it was the “greed” and lobbying of boards and newspapers that killed the free U.S. site.
