Journal of Financial Planning, Nov. 2006 supplement, p. 30
Are you looking for someone in your field of study to help you learn about job offers and make connections to help you develop your career? This article describes a new service in the financial planning industry that matches professionals at all stages with career “coaches,” but those in any field can benefit from identifying a mentor to help them navigage the career maze.
There are excellent resources right here at Simmons to help students find a mentor to help learn more about their field. Alumnet offers a directory of alumni, their career paths, and advice on career/work life topics. As a starting point, simply fill out the “Mentoring Request Form” found at http://www.simmons.edu/alumnae/mentoring/. Then visit our eLibrary page on networking at http://my.simmons.edu/library/collections/career/ntwkg.shtml for more strategies for developing alumni and other professional contacts.
