This article is sure to raise the ire of any reader who believes that all people in America should be treated equally in the workplace. Unfortunately, since 9/11, workplace discrimination against Arab Americans has increased significantly in both blatant and more subtle ways. While workplace discrimination against other minority groups such as African-Americans and gays and lesbians is widely condemned, many who discriminate against Arab-Americans falsely believe that they are justified in their prejudice by ignorantly labeling them as “terrorists.” The good news is that Arab-Americans do not have to be passive victims of such discrimination. The article contains links to several organizations that work to combat such discrimination and that have won legal settlements for unfairly terminated workers. Also, the article contains links to additional resources that seek to dispel myths about Muslims and other religious minorities and that give important guidance to employers and co-workers of Arab-Americans in order for them to recognize discrimination and to create office policies to combat and prevent it. The article is a definite must-read for everyone.
