“The largest sexual discrimination lawsuit in history” is up against Wal-Mart for its treatment of women. This class action suit is on behalf of two million female Wal-Mart employees. The ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Fancisco decided 2-1 to grant class action status to this suit, which was originally was filed in 2001. The suit alleges that women receive less pay and fewer promotions compared to men’s compensation at Wal-Mart. Sexual harassment is another serious issue that is being addressed.
This is not the first time Wal-Mart has faced legal action regarding employment practices. In March of 2005, Wal-Mart had to pay $11 million dollars when they admitted illegal immigrants cleaned Wal-Mart stores.
