According to a recent press release, there were a total of 3,754,400 online advertised job vacancies in March 2007, up 18 percent over March 2006. The five states with the most number of advertisements were: California, Texas, New York, Florida, and Illinois. Massachusetts was number nine on the list, with approximately 146,000 total job ads.
The top five most demanded occupations included management, business and finance, healthcare practitioner, office staff, and computer/technology jobs. Washington DC, San Jose, New York, Salt Lake City, San Francisco, and Austin were the places that had the most online job postings per number of people searching.
For assistance with your own online job search, stop by the Career Resource Library in the Palace Road Building, #304E, or visit our eLibrary at http://my.simmons.edu/library/collections/career/jobbanks.shtml.
