Having a summer internship is great for adding depth and experience to your resume. But a good internship can do more than that –- it can be your best opportunity to network one-on-one so you can turn an internship into a permanent job.
The author of this article acknowledges that there is no “magical formula” for networking, but also says that merely showing up for your internship is not going to make the lasting impression that can make a career difference to you. The article lists some simple networking tips that might seem routine, but can carry you a long way, such as making phone calls instead of using email to communicate and getting involved in company activities such as softball games and charitable volunteering.
Following these suggestions can help you turn higher-ups into colleagues and a summer internship into a full-time job.
