Self Assessment and Career Planning — by Dawn Rosenberg McKay http://careerplanning.about.com/od/careerchoicechan/tp/Career-Choice.htm
Are you trying to determine what career path is right for you? Self assessment tests can provide insight into your personality and help you discover your fields of interest. There are several free online assessment tests that may help you. Some examples are the Career Interests Game from the University of Missouri Career Center, the Careerlink Inventory, the Princeton Review Career Quiz, and the Myers-Briggs Personality Assessment. These assessments will ask you questions about your aptitudes, interests, temperaments, work style, and will give you a direction to start thinking about career choices.
Career Counselors here at the Simmons Career Education Center can also help you sort through your interests and experiences and can administer the Myers-Briggs Personality Assessment. Click on the link to the above article to read about and access different self assessment tests, or go to the Career Resource Library’s self assessment web page (http://my.simmons.edu/library/collections/career/selfassess.shtml)for more examples of free self assessment tests. You can also call the Career Education Center for an appointment at (617)-521-2488.
