Hate Your Job? Great! Blog by Lori Grant, December 17th, 2006
It’s a fact of life for almost all of us: the first job snagged after graduation will not be the one we had in mind when we first began our undergraduate or graduate studies. This blog post from SmartLemming.com implores us not to despair at this situation, but to treat it as a valuable chance to hone skills for when that ideal job opportunity comes a-knocking. Author Lori Grant maintains that working a job, ANY job, provides us with resources to:
(1) practice skills
(2) try on job responsibilities to see where talent lies
(3) learn a work ethic
(4) learn how to work with others
This may all seem intuitive, but it can never hurt to remind ourselves that less-than-ideal jobs aren’t dead ends, and that any work experience will help in launching a fantastic career. Read on to find out how!
