Ok, there’s no time to waste. You’ve heard the news! This is a month like no other for snapping up your resume (and maybe your cover letter could use some polishing too). Your skills and experiences are updating themselves all the time and it’s important to keep a running list of all your accomplishments. If you think your job situation is about to play musical chairs then you want to be prepared. We’ve got resume books and resources like you wouldn’t believe, online, or over here at the Career Resource Library. I’ve included a few samples below.
Simmons College Career Education Center (CEC): For in-person resume counseling and online resume information, make sure to check out the CEC. Their Career Counselors will kindly whip your resumes and cover letters into shape! Take a look at their website for contact information on making an appointment for resume therapy. Also, check out their walk-in hours.
Career Resource Library’s eLibrary on Resumes and Cover Letters: Take a look to this page specifically for online resume and cover letter resources. We’ve complied many different websites that will outline the do’s and don’ts of resume and cover letter writing, as well as job etiquette of how to appropriately submit your resume to potential employers.
Check out some library books:
Resumes that knock em’ dead by Martin John Yate
Cover letters that knock em’ dead by Martin John Yate
Real-resumes for financial jobs by Anne McKinney
Resumes for the health care professional by Kim Marino
Resume writing and interviewing techniques that work: a how-to-do-it manual for librarians by Robert R. Newlen
Resumes for nursing careers by the editors of VGM Career Horizons
I hope you’re all getting back into your school routine. Let us help you with any resume headaches that may be adding to your stress. Don’t do it alone!
