Sixteen years ago, the Americans with Disabilities Act was passed, making discrimination against those with physical differences illegal. However, only 38 percent of those disabled and of working age is currently employed. Suzanne Robitaille from the Wall Street Journal discusses how companies such as Merrill Lynch and PepsiCo, are making efforts to increase their outreach to workers with disabilities through recruiting agencies, internships, events, networks, and other activities. Companies are realizing that not only will these efforts bring positive changes to potential employees, but it will help the companies find more sources for diverse and innovative ideas.
