In this article from the Wall Street Journal entitled For the Jobless, Web Sites Offer More Options, Pui-Wing Tam discovers that the need for employment has created a burst of new online job-searching websites.
New to the job engine scene, sites such as Indeed.com offers a Google-like interface that relies on more precise search options than some of the more mainstream sites such as Monster.com and Career Builder. Industry-specific sites like Dice.com focus on one field (Dice only searches technology jobs). Still others such as Glassdoor.com, will show you recently posted jobs close to your zip code that are relevant to your job criteria every time you open their website.
Tam warns that due to a troubled economy the overall number of job listings has not increased; therefore it is more important than ever to personalize your job search and avoid merely posting your resume to these sites.
