For ‘09 Grads, Job Prospects Take a Dive

Cari Tuna in an article from the Wall Stree Journal confirms – with facts - what everybody has suspected for a few weeks now: the prospects for the ’09 graduates are looking bleak – at least for some of the graduates.
According to a survey by the National Association of Colleges and Employers, employers plan to hire just 1.3% more graduates in 2009 than they hired this year, far below the number of graduates that will enter the workforce.
This means that responding to online advertisements and sending out resumes is not the best way to finding a job. Instead, one should try to visit potential companies of interest, conduct informational interviews and generally place significant more emphasis on networking, as a way to break through in the field.
Check out additional online networking resources off of the Career Resource Library’s website, and contact the Career Education Center for help with preparing for these networking opportunities.
