In her article from journal ONS Connect, Elisa Becze provides us with some tips on how to make the most of your references.
- She advises preparing two professional references and two personal references with whom you have a strong relationship. These people should be well known in the community and be able to provide prospective employers with positive feedback about you.
- She recommends giving these references a copy of your resume and letting them know when prospective employers may be contacting them so they can be prepared.
- She also outlines what information about your reference you should provide your prospective employer including: proper name, address and telephone number, job title, and how long you have known the person.
If you follow these steps you will be on your way to having great references and one step closer to getting the job you want.
