A new study of young German professionals published in the Journal of Vocational Behavior reports that younger employees who develop a mentoring relationship with an older, more experienced, employee are more likely to achieve career success than those employees who don’t have a mentor.
Employees whose mentor is a powerful figure in their field are especially likely than their peer to achieve career success. The study also mentions networking as a strong indicator of career success. For optimal success in your field, a mentorship with a well-known and respected colleague along, with networking, can help put you on the road to success.
Take advantage of your mentoring potential by applying for a mentor with the Career Education Center’s Success Connection Leadership Program or the Mosaic Multicultural Mentoring Program a mentoring program specifically designed for students of color.
