Now that you’ve landed your first interview for a professional position, it’s time to start the preparations. Elspeth Raisbeck of Nursing Standard provides a few ideas on how to insure that your first interview is a success:
Search and research – make sure you know as much as possible about the company/ firm/organization that you are interviewing with – like projects that they are involved with and new directions that they are exploring
Know where to be – make sure you a printout of the address/ room location and the names of the persons that you are interviewing with. Come early – leave plenty of time for traffic and parking – plan to arrive about 20 minutes early.
If nerves threaten to overcome you, try to relax, take several deep breaths and count to ten.
