Note: You will need to use your Simmons login to access this article off-campus.
William M. Carson from the Black Collegian offers some very good advice for the job seekers preparing to attend a career fair, broken down in three simple categories: things to do before, during and after attending the fair.
Before – Prepare a list of potential employers and research them beforehand; make sure that you have several versions of your resume, and plenty of (professionally-looking) copies. Make sure to wear proper business attire.
During – Take a few minutes to see what companies are present; engage those companies first. Take notes of the conversations that you’ve had, people that you’ve talked to, obtain business cards.
After – Go through your notes and prioritize which companies you would like to follow up with; send thank you notes to the people that you’ve interviewed with, and try to keep in touch with those that you have made contact.
